The Georgia Peace Officer Standards and Training Council and the Technical College System of Georgia are implementing a new approach to training Law Enforcement in Georgia. The program is 17 weeks and will increase training, knowledge, and understanding of the complex issues regarding law enforcement today. Recruits completing this program will gain, in addition to their P.O.S.T. Basic Law Enforcement certification, 59 college credits towards an associate’s degree in criminal justice.
The increased training and education will provide local agencies with a more qualified and better trained officer. This in turn results in a better officer and department serving their community. The Academy will serve current employees of law enforcement as well as those motivated individuals who want to begin their law enforcement career prior to being employed. Law enforcement candidates that meet the criteria may be eligible for student financial aid including the HOPE Grant. Our goal is to produce highly motivated, ambitious, professional officers that serve their agencies and communities to the best of their abilities. Come be a part of our program.
